Singer, songwriter, teacher, and first regular contributor to MankatoLIFE.com, Stacy K Berkner, is releasing a new single on Friday, June 22nd, not coincidentally the first full day of summer.

“I’ll be releasing my fifth album this fall,” Berkner said. “The single is part of the album, which is untitled at the moment. The name of the single is ‘Feels Good.’ It’s a really easy-going song. In the past a lot of my songs were pretty lyrical and a little heavy. So this is an easy listening, easy going song about being yourself and and that it’s OK to be happy. It seems like the news is heavy and negative. I wanted something that was completely opposite. This is like, ‘Let’s get over it people and have a good time!'”

Many people contributed to the release. “I’m the songwriter and I co-produced it with Jason McGlone,” Berkner explained. “He’s also the drummer. Dave Mehling and Beau Jeffrey are some really old friends of mine. I’ve been playing music with them for about 10 years and they all play in a band called The Fontanelles which are also playing at Solstice on Saturday. I recorded this at Hideaway Studios in Minneapolis. It was mixed by Jason McGlone and mastered by a guy named Rob Schlette of Anthem Mastering in St. Louis.

With the single, a video is also officially releasing Friday. “I recorded the video at the green screen over at the Mogwai Cooperative. Bolten and Menk, they have a green screen, so I was able to do it there. There’s Mankato folks dancing in the video including Richard Coyle. Richard was in Dancing with the Mankato Stars and a guitar student of mine. He’s really a positive person.”

The single will be available for streaming Friday. “I put it through a service that streams it everywhere! You can find it on Spotify or ask Alexa or Siri.” If you want to purchase the single or any of Stacy K’s other music you’ll find it at StacyK.BandCamp.com.
