Changing Minds IV Exhibition – Opening Reception

Changing Minds IV: Work by Patients at Forensic Services at the Department of Human Services will be on display at the Arts Center of Saint Peter, coinciding with national Mental Health Awareness Month.

The exhibition includes more than 150 original works of visual and literary art created over the past two years by artists working independently and those who participated in year-round art and writing classes facilitated by the Arts Center. Classes took place both at the Arts Center and at Forensic Services, which is operated by the Minnesota Department of Human Services.

“The exhibition is a rare opportunity for our patients to showcase their talents and for the public to look beyond stereotypes of mental illness and see our patients as the unique, insightful, creative individuals they are,” said Dr. Soniya Hirachan, Executive and Medical Director of Forensic Services.

The public is invited to attend the opening reception at the Arts Center. A private event for exhibiting artists who are unable to attend the public reception will also take place.
