2018 Initial Advertising Opportunities

MankatoLIFE.com is a new, online only, publication which exists to highlight the vitality of Mankato, North Mankato, St. Peter and the surrounding communities by delivering excellence in content and presentation, by curating a comprehensive everything-to-do calendar, by uncovering hidden gems, and by nourishing and providing a voice for the region’s cultural community.

MankatoLIFE.com will regularly communicate these values and commitments to our end users, and, in turn, will ask our users to consider not blocking ads on this site.

Opportunities for advertising are available as of December 1, 2018. This document represents introductory offerings which will expire on May 31st, 2019. At that time all introductory agreements will expire and this rate card will be recalculated.

Advertising Values

Advertising on MankatoLIFE.com will be conducted by the following values:

Only Local — MankatoLIFE will host only those ads that represent local businesses. We will not be serving ads from commercial networks.

By Standards — MankatoLIFE.com will offer advertising according to the guidance set forth in the IAB New Ad Portfolio.

User Centered — MankatoLIFE will adhere to a LEAN (Light, Encrypted, Ad Choice Support, Non-invasive/Non-disruptive) advertising experience which is based upon these principles:

  • Respect: A consumer’s primary objective is consuming publisher content
  • Control: A consumer has control over his/her advertising experience
  • Choice: A consumer decides what content he/she wants to experience and for how long

Accordingly, the LEAN guidance addresses the following:

  • Lightweight user experience to maximize initial page load performance
  • Non-disruptive ad experiences

No Tracking — You know when you’re on one website, then you see an ad for the first website on another? Yeah, we hate that too. You won’t see it here.

Ads as Content — We work from the assumption that when done with artistry and excellence, local advertising can enhance a user’s online experience rather than detract from it. We will work with our advertisers to create ads that get users’ attention and add to their experience.

Ad Guidelines

Initially, ads served on MankatoLIFE.com will be static, one frame, .jpg or .png files. Two types are available:

  • 8×1 responsive ad with a static pixel size of 1200×150 and scales down to 600×75 on the smallest screens. Maximum file size is 150KB (replaces 728×90 leaderboard)
  • 1×1 responsive ad with a static pixel size of 450×450 and scales down to 300×300 on the smallest screens. Maximum file size is 150KB (replaces 300×250 medium rectangle)

Each ad will have a one-pixel, solid black border built into the graphic. Colors and design must be harmonious. We will work with you to use good design to attract attention to your ad.

NOTES:

While MankatoLIFE will likely switch to impression-based ad sales, current offerings are strictly a share of impressions achieved. No impression or performance level is guaranteed.

Traffic on MankatoLIFE has been growing steadily since official launch on January 1, 2018.  The MankatoLIFE team is dedicated to regularly growing content on the site and improving our rankings on search engines, thus increasing traffic.

Reports on your ad’s performance are available upon request.
