Quilting Your Family History – History @ Home with BECHS

    November 15th, 2020

Mankato, MN – BECHS is excited to continue bringing online programs through Zoom Video Communications. Join us each week for a new program! The November 19 at 4 p.m. program is “Quilting Your Family History.”

Kathy Emmel has been passionate about quilting and genealogy for over 40 years. She will share with you a presentation featuring 14 quilts she has made that showcase family history, stories and heritage, as well as celebrations, historical events and groups of people. In addition, she will share an antique quilt whose secrets she unlocked through research. These quilts feature photos printed on fabric, embroidery, heirloom textiles, calligraphy and objects. Hopefully, they will inspire you to find an unusual and unexpected way to share your family stories with others.

Kathy has a background in graphic design and had a 30 year career teaching elementary school children in California and Jefferson County, Colorado. Since retirement, she has delved more deeply into the study of genealogy and her family history. She has a Certificate in Genealogical Research from Boston University and completed ProGen 42. She is always looking for new ways to share her genealogical finds with others

Each presentation will be led by a BECHS staff person or historian and include time for Q&A. The cost is $7/adults, Free for BECHS Members. Registration is required and will open one week before each program is scheduled. For those who cannot attend the program live, they can still register and receive the recording after the program.
