Auditions for “A Charlie Brown Christmas” at State Street Theater Co.

    The animated television special, “A Charlie Brown Christmas” by Charles M. Schultz, comes to life in this faithful stage adaptation. Join the fun and audition for this classic tale on Monday, October 7 and Wednesday, October 9 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at State Street Theater Co.

    When Charlie Brown complains about the overwhelming materialism he sees among everyone during the Christmas season, Lucy suggests that he become director of the school Christmas pageant. Charlie Brown accepts, but this proves to be a frustrating endeavor. When an attempt to restore the proper holiday spirit with a forlorn little Christmas fir tree fails, he needs Linus’ help to discover the real meaning of Christmas.

    Roles are available for 6 males and 5 females and those interested, ages 14 and above, are encouraged to audition. First-time actors are warmly encouraged and welcome. Auditions will be a cold read from the script and singing. Open auditions are at the State Street Theater Co., 1 N. State Street; enter at Washington Street, back parking lot, door number 9.  The Director will be Anita Prestidge, director of “Beauty and the Beast” at the State Street Theater.

The production is also made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Prairie Lakes Regional Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
