Virtual Golf Event July 13-19 Benefits United Way

Statewide Golf Fore Minnesota event started locally

MANKATO—Golfers throughout the region can benefit Greater Mankato Area United Way by participating in a virtual golf event July 13-19.

The statewide Golf Fore Minnesota fundraiser benefits United Ways in Minnesota (including Greater Mankato Area United Way) and Second Harvest Heartland.

Golfers register online at GolfForeMinnesota.com and play at a course of their choice during the week. The registration fee acts as a donation to the nonprofits (green fees not included in registration). Non-golfers are also encouraged to donate online. All participants will be entered in drawings for various prizes.

The event was started by Teresa Bergs of T Time Sports and Legendary Golf Events. She brought her idea of a virtual golf event to Greater Mankato Area United Way CEO Barb Kaus, who serves on the United Ways of Minnesota board of directors. The idea expanded to include Second Harvest Heartland, which provides hunger relief.

“This is an easy and fun way for people to support their communities while enjoying a round of golf,” said Kaus. “We are so thankful to Teresa for reaching out with this idea that has blossomed into a statewide initiative.”
