Upcoming regional kickoffs include Waseca Bean Bag Tournament
MANKATO—Community members and businesses are invited to Greater Mankato Area United Way’s 2023 Campaign Kickoff events, including the outdoor kickoff in Mankato from 12 to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, July 26 at the Civic Center Plaza.
Presented by Atwood Companies, the event is free and open to the public. It includes free lunch while supplies last, a short program and music by Neon Live.
Greater Mankato Area United Way will hold additional kickoffs throughout its service area in August and September, including:
- Tuesday, August 16, 4:30 to 6 p.m.: St. Peter Kickoff at the Chamber Diplomats Picnic at Levee Park
- Saturday, August 20, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.: Elysian Kickoff at Scoops Ice Cream. United Way is seeking volunteers to work at Scoops and perform on the outdoor stage. Proceeds from the day benefit Greater Mankato Area United Way. Contact United Way to get involved: 507-345-4551.
- Thursday, September 15, 3 to 5 p.m.: Waseca Kickoff & 2nd Annual Bean Bag Tournament at The Mill. Cost: $100 per two-player team. Contact Diane Beckmann at 507-835-9899 to register.
Greater Mankato Area United Way’s 2023 campaign goal is $2,150,000 to support 55 essential programs in Blue Earth, Le Sueur, Nicollet and Waseca counties. This is an increase from last year’s campaign goal of $2,060,000.
Matthew Atwood of Atwood Companies is leading the initiative as 2023 Campaign Chair.
Each spring, more than 90 community volunteers review all programs as part of the annual community-led vetting process. United Way programs served more than 51, 000 people annually in the four-county area.
Businesses are invited to become a “Pacesetter” donor recognized at kickoff by pledging their corporate gift of $500 or more before the kickoff events. Pledges can be made online at MankatoUnitedWay.org/donate or by contacting United Way at 507-345-4551.
