The Mankato Symphony Orchestra Announces New Music Director

    Mankato, MN — The Mankato Symphony is thrilled to announce the appointment of Ernesto Estigarribia as its new Music Director. Hailed for his “expert direction” by the Fanfare magazine, Paraguayan conductor Ernesto Estigarribia ishighly regarded for his versatility and effervescent energy on and off the podium. He is the Music Director of the Sheboygan Symphony, Associate Conductor of the Quad City Symphony Orchestra, Music Director of the Quad City Symphony Youth Ensembles and Director of Orchestras at Augustana College. Previous conducting posts include the Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies and the Southeastern Minnesota Youth Orchestras.

    “The Mankato Symphony first began its nationwide search for a conductor in 2020 and after a delay brought on by Covid, we were finally able to audition four finalists during our 2021-22 season. In light of the delayed and extensive search, we are especially delighted to welcome Ernesto Estigarribia, as Mankato Symphony’s dynamic new leader. He will begin conducting our concerts in our 2022-23 season.” says Executive Director Bethel Balge.

    “I am thrilled to join the MSO team to bring exciting musical experience to South Central Minnesota. We have so many fantastic programs coming, and I cannot wait to present them to our community.” says MSO Music Director Ernesto Estigarribia.
