The Mankato Symphony Orchestra 2022-23 Concert Season: New Beginnings

    Mankato, MN — The Mankato Symphony Orchestra (MSO) is thrilled to announce its 2022-23 season of concerts, titled New Beginnings. The Symphony on the Prairie concert on September 10th, 6pm marks the first offering in the Mankato Symphony’s 72nd season. It will be held in Benson Park and thanks to the City of North Mankato’s generous sponsorship, admission is free. Families are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs and enjoy a beautiful, patriotic concert led by guest conductor Manny Laureano who is principal trumpeter with the Minnesota Orchestra and conductor of the Bloomington Symphony Orchestra. The program showcases a musical portrayal of our collective efforts to build our nation. The setlist includes memorable and popular tunes such as Stars and Stripes, a Tribute to John Williams, West Side Story, and more. Food and beverages will be available for purchase throughout the event.

    Following the 9/10 concert, the Mankato Symphony will offer seventeen events, including four full symphony concerts, five Music on the Hill chamber music concerts, and eight free family fun events. The MSO is very pleased to introduce its newly hired Music Director, Ernesto Estigarribia, a native of Paraguay who brings energy, enthusiasm and excellent artistic direction to the podium. Estigarribia has programmed four full symphonic programs on October 9 (Scheherazade), December 18 (The Snowman), March 25 (Liquify), and April 22 (Towering Triumph).

    A week before each symphony concert the See Hear Play: Music Free Family Fun Series will perform at local libraries and at the VINE adult community center in Mankato. Artistic Director August Jeske will introduce composers and pieces featured in the following week’s symphony concert. The series showcases musicians, actors, and fun storytelling and musical activities for everyone.

    Music on the Hill’s Artistic Director Richard Belcher has programmed five chamber music concerts in a series titled Inspirations. The series opens on October 16 with a program called Inspired French Masterworks. All Music on the Hill concerts will be held at 3pm in Trinity Chapel on the campus of Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato.
