Mankato — Merely Players Community Theatre is proud to announce the hiring of Jonathan Brandt as its new Artistic Director. A familiar face to local theatergoers, Brandt brings a deep passion for the performing arts, a sharp creative vision, and a commitment to community engagement to his new leadership role.

Brandt holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theater Arts and a Master’s Degree in Technology Leadership from Brown University. In addition to his theatrical work, he is an IT Project Manager by profession and enjoys exploring history, music, chess, and debunking Fascist Theocracy.

Audiences may recognize Brandt from his standout performances on the Merely Players stage in Treasure Island, Miracle on 34th Street, and And Then There Were None. He has also performed with Minnesota State University, Mankato in Escape to Margaritaville and his award-winning role in The Winter’s Tale, as well as The Thanksgiving Play and Birthday Candles with Social Justice Theatre.

“I’m thrilled to step into this role and help shape the next chapter of Merely Players,” said Brandt. “Theatre has the power to challenge, inspire, and connect us—and I’m excited to work alongside this vibrant community to bring bold, imaginative stories to life.”

He brings a wealth of creative energy, thoughtful leadership, and fresh ideas to Merely Players. We can’t wait to see where he helps lead us next.”
