SAINT PETER, MINN. – More than fifty paintings and drawings, including a series of large pieces inspired by Mankato Ballet, comprise “Art Works Through Five Decades: A Retrospective by Peggy Draheim” on display August 2-24 at the Arts Center of Saint Peter.

“My technique is centered in the joy of active color and fluid brushstroke,” says Draheim, a retired art educator who holds a undergraduate and graduate degrees in art from Minnesota State University, Mankato. “I want the color to dance across the canvas, and loose brushstrokes to energize the painting. It’s the essence of the subject that I wish to capture…I give information without giving detail.”
