MANKATO—The Deep Valley Book Festival is now accepting entries for its 2023 Young Writers and Artists contest. The contest is open to youth ages 7-18. Deadline is April 30.
The theme for this year’s writing contest is “hero.” Entries can be up to 1,500 words and should be typed.
For the artist’s contest, entrants can pick a scene from their favorite book and illustrate it. Find a quote from the book that best describes the illustration.
Both the writing and artist contests are divided into five categories: Ages 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, and 15-18. Cash prizes are given to the top three in each category. Awards will be presented during the book festival on Saturday, Oct. 7 at the Country Inn and Suites in Mankato. Winners need not be present to win.
