MANKATO, MN – The Children‘s Museum of Southern Minnesota will host a Free Family Play day highlighting Fire Safety Education Day on Saturday, August 19th from 10:00am-3:00pm. During this event, children will learn what to do in the event of a fire, become familiar with emergency equipment and gear, and learn fire safety practices.
“This is a great opportunity for caregivers to bring their children in for a fun, educational experience. They also will have the opportunity to interact with our local fire departments and see first-hand the importance of fire safety,” said Rachel Gemlo, Director of Programming.
Several area fire departments will have fire trucks and emergency vehicles on site for kids to explore, as well as the smoke simulator house and Sparky The Fire Safety Dog. Throughout the day they will have activities, crafts, and giveaways, too! The Museum will be open from 9:00am to 4:00pm and the outdoor Fire Safety event is from 10:00am to 3:00pm.
