Can Jam 2 Event Encourages Food Donations for Campus Kitchen

    November 5th, 2021

MANKATO, Minn. – Inspired by National Hunger and Homeless Awareness week (Nov. 13 -22), students in Dale Haefner’s music management and concert production class at Minnesota State University, Mankato are sponsoring a food donation drive at Hooligans, 1400 East Madison Avenue (Madison East Center).

The Can Jam 2 event will be held Wednesday, Nov. 17 from 7:15 p.m. to 10 p.m. Donations of non-perishable food items will support Campus Kitchen at Minnesota State Mankato. Individuals donating non-perishable food items will receive one raffle ticket per food item. Raffle drawings will take place throughout the evening and raffle winners must be present to win. Raffle prizes will be donated by generous businesses and individuals in the Mankato area. A grand prize drawing will take place at 9:45 p.m.

Maggie Driemeyer, a student in the Concert Production class, commented, “Our concert production class has been working hard to make this a fun night of music, food, and charity. People don’t realize how important giving back to your community is. It impacts people’s lives more than you know. Donating dry or canned goods to Cam Jam 2 is a great way to help out Minnesota State Mankato students who are experiencing food insecurity.”
Musical entertainment will be provided throughout the evening by Department of Music vocal and instrumental music students.

The Can Jam 2 event is free and open to the public. All ages are encouraged to attend. Attendees are urged, but not required, to donate food items in support of the University’s Campus Kitchen food shelf.
