    The Treaty Site History Center, located in Traverse des Sioux Park in St. Peter, is the home of the Nicollet County Historical Society.

    In addition to the Historical Society, the building houses the Nicollet County Historical Museum where visitors can explore the history of the county as well as the larger Minnesota territorial expansion.

    The Center marks the location of the 1851 signing of the Treaty of Traverse des Sioux that ceded 24 million acres of Dakota land to the United States government and opened the territory to white settlers.

    Adjacent to the Treaty Site Center visitors can explore the Traverse des Sioux natural area.
