The North American Indian Exhibit

Event Details

Between 1907 and 1930, Curtis recorded the lives, language, and ceremony of over 80 North American tribes before forced assimilation changed it. Although the photographs have been challenged as an idealized vision, the scholarship of his work has been a source for reclaiming tribal heritage. A select group of 55 photographs is on loan from The Montgomery Arts and Heritage Center, granted permission by Northwestern University.

This virtual opening event will be live at The Grand Center for Arts & Culture Facebook page on January 15th at 5 pm. The gallery is open to the public from Saturday, January 16 to Friday, February 26. Gallery Hours are Tuesday-Saturday, 12-5 pm.
