Human Library

September 24 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

St Peter Public Library | Human Library

The Saint Peter Public Library is offering a unique program to the community through a partnership with the Human Library Organization, located in Copenhagen, Denmark. The Human Library is a worldwide program that allows the public to read and borrow human books. Volunteer human books share their lived experiences of racism, discrimination, stigma, and marginalization.

Library patrons and community members can sit down face-to-face with a human book to have a conversation in a safe space. The topics range from addiction and homelessness to mental illness and immigration. The experience is meant to provide a learning and understanding of issues that are often misunderstood or stigmatized in society.
