An Afternoon at the Opera

April 30 @ 3:00 pm

The Department of Music & Entertainment Industries and Department of
Theatre & Dance students and alumni will perform an afternoon of opera scenes.

The performance includes duets, choruses, trios, and quartets from some of the most famous operas and early musical theatre productions, ranging from La Bohème, Carmen, The Magic Flute, and The Pirates of Penzance, to Camelot and Candide. The production is directed by Dr. Stephanie R. Thorpe, with musical direction by collaborative accompanist, Ben Marti.

Music student Abigail Shogren says, “I appreciate this opportunity to expand my opera skills, and how the art form allows me to take opera to the next step of putting scenes and arias into context through acting them out fully. Theatre student Finnola Coughlin adds, “This is unlike any production you have ever seen before. The amount of talent on the stage is simply jaw dropping! Come see a wonderful afternoon of classical music and acting. You won’t regret it!”

Minnesota State Mankato students are admitted free with a valid MavCARD. General admission is $9 and $7 for students (K-12) and children. Those who wish to purchase tickets online should go to https://link.mnsu.edu/musictickets
